Motimate is utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in its service and this document describes how we safely use AI to support our educators and learners.
AI-supported features and their availability in Motimate
The AI Translator allows educators to reduce the time spent on creating messages to the learners, and translating them to other languages. With the AI Translator, learners can translate their message to different languages.
To provide the AI Translator, Motimate sends your textual content temporarily to the Azure Translator service to be able to translate the text.
An organization can decide to remove access to the AI features for all admins and editors.
Key principles for usage of AI in Motimate
Motimate uses public AI-models from third party vendors and does not build its own models. No data from the Motimate platform is used to train or refine any models.
Motimate’s partner and AI provider for its AI features is Microsoft Azure based in Europe. Motimate has integrated with Microsoft through our backend to avoid unknown information from the browser or client being sent to Microsoft.
Data inserted into the AI feature is sent to Microsoft for processing and to generate AI output (i.e. the translation). The information Motimate sends to the APIs of Microsoft is what we call the input. Motimate does not knowingly provide any user information, personal data or previous input to Microsoft in providing the AI feature(s) and advises users against providing the same.
The processing of information sent by Motimate to Microsoft is performed according to Microsoft Azure’s standard terms and conditions, which may be found here.

Without warranting the content of the information, Motimate assumes that this information is correct and accurate also regarding customer data transferred by Motimate to Microsoft for processing.
To the extent we make beta versions of functions and features available to users of the Motimate platform, such beta features can change or evolve at any time. You may experience bugs or performance issues while using such features. Motimate reserves the right to cap or disable beta feature usage at any time, including due to high demand.
Important considerations for users
While the AI text-generation can save you a lot of time, it sometimes provides inaccurate translations. Please carefully review any AI-generated translations for accuracy before using it.
Please note that you, as the author of an Motimate course utilizing AI-assisted creation, remain responsible for the accuracy and suitability of the content contained therein, as well as its compliance with Motimate’s terms and policies located at https://www.motimateapp.com/
You should not:
- include any personal data in your use of the AI features, such as within the text input.
- include or upload any offensive or infringing material, confidential information or other content that violates our terms and conditions.

Key technical information related to the AI translator:
The AI method used for translation is a modern neural machine translation technology. The input permits a user to send the content in a text block for translations to other languages. The information processed by Microsoft is the text entered by the user.
