How Berggård Amundsen responded to the pandemic with a new digital conference format supported by Motimate

An independent Norwegian-owned electrical wholesaler, Berggård Amundsen & Co AS has been in business for 75 years and has 220 employees.

The challenge

Berggård Amundsen & Co AS is an established Norwegian electrical wholesaler. For years the company has held an annual two day event, bringing together hundreds of employees and suppliers to celebrate the previous year’s successes and communicate its future strategy. It is also an opportunity for suppliers to showcase new products.

In both 2021 and 2022, due to the pandemic, it was not possible to hold the event in its usual physical format. To keep business on track, they had to turn to a digital solution.

The solution

Luckily, Berggård Amundsen was already using Motimate for its in-house learning, so getting Motimate Creative Studio involved was the natural choice. By replacing physical stands with Motis, a digital series of mini exhibitions were created for more than 20 suppliers. These were short product courses built in close cooperation with their marketing coordinator, using content submitted by each supplier following a simple set of guidelines. 

Then, event participants had less than a week to complete 22 Motis, at their own pace, and take a speed quiz after each one. After the event, a quiz winner was announced and recognition given for the best supplier performance. This format created a sense of friendly competition, encouraging participants to do their very best. 

The results

Berggård Amundsen & Co AS received positive feedback from both employees and suppliers.

The results were outstanding. In both 2021 and 2022, feedback on the new digital event format, including the new digital product courses delivered through Motimate, was extremely successful, receiving positive feedback from both employees and suppliers. 

Bonus!

In fact, the training courses created by Motimate’s Creative Studio were so successful that, even as they return to physical events, Berggård Amundsen will continue to use these digital learning courses as a part of the event format in the years to come.

As an extra bonus, Berggård Amundsen has since re-used the content created for these courses to communicate product information and engage directly with customers as well. Using Motimate, Berggård Amundsen successfully turned a problem into an opportunity. 

Our annual conference is an opportunity to motivate, educate and inspire employees and suppliers. It’s a really important part of our success as a company. In 2021 and 2022, in response to the pandemic, we delivered a new online event format. To support this new digital format, we used Motimate and its Creative Studio, to deliver a series of digital product courses. These training courses surpassed expectations, equipping employees with the knowledge they need to succeed in their roles, and suppliers with the opportunity to really shine.
